What is a Playgroup?
A playgroup is a group of parents or carers and pre-school children who meet together regularly to provide play experiences and socialisation for the children and friendship and support for the parents and carers.
Seabrook Playgroup
Seabrook Playgroup is located at the Seabrook Community Centre Inc. at the corner of Truganina Avenue and John Cook Terrace, Seabrook. We currently offer 9 sessions per week. Our playgroup welcomes all children from birth to school age accompanied by a parent or carer. A maximum of 10 families / minimum of 6 families per playgroup session have been set as a guide for each group at the community centre
Playgroups operate throughout the school term only. Some playgroups organise to meet during the school holidays or plan special days at playgroup such as a BBQ, Teddy Bears picnic, colour day, etc. There are also events organised throughout the term for all members to attend. There are playgroup sessions available Tuesdays through to Fridays, with a morning and a lunch session per day
All playgroups operating out of the Seabrook Community Centre Inc. are run by a parent committee comprising of a Coordinator, Treasurer, Secretary, Purchasing Officer, Social / Fundraising Co-ordinator and Group Representatives. Each group must have at least one representative on the committee, whether it is the Group Leader or a group member.
Goals for Playgroup:
- To be a meeting place for parents and carers enabling new friendships to be formed.
- To provide a safe and happy environment for children to play in.
- To be a friendly playgroup which welcomes all families.
- To involve all families in running the playgroup.
- To be a Sun Smart playgroup.
Venue and Guidelines:
Meeting Room 1 at the Seabrook Community Centre, corner of Truganina Ave and John Cook Dve, Seabrook, provides the venue for playgroup. The Seabrook Playgroup Committee has written guidelines for members to follow.
Seabrook Community Centre Playgroups:
The Seabrook Playgroup Inc is run by a parent committee. All children from birth to school age accompanied by a parent or carer are welcome. A maximum of 10 families, minimum of six families, per session has been set as a guide for each group.
Playgroup sessions operate at various times between Tuesday and Friday at the Seabrook Community Centre, Truganina Avenue, Seabrook. |
