COORDINATOR'S REPORT Welcome back to Playgroup for 2010, and an especially warm welcome to all our new families. I hope everyone is settling in well and enjoying their sessions. The beginning of the year was a little more bumpy for me as the new co-ordinator than I expected. Mostly administrative issues, but there's been a lot more phone calling and e-mailing than I anticipated! Perhaps our other committee members have found the same...? I want to again thank all the volunteers who make up our committee and group leaders for 2010 for your contributions. Although it seems a little early to be mentioning the words “Christmas” and “Party” together, as there will only be four newsletters a year I feel I must make an early appeal to all the members to get behind Alison Peck and the fundraising subcommittee and support their efforts to make this xmas party as fantastic as last year's. For those of you who are new, our xmas parties rock! We have free activities, rides and snowcones for the kids and Santa brings pressies for the good ones (I'm pleased to report that last year, they were all good). I'd also like to make sure that all our members, old and new, know that the responsibilities of getting out toys, packing and cleaning up, unlocking/locking the rooms, organising activities/crafts are to be SHARED BY EVERYONE. It is NOT just your group leader's job. Their job is to act as an information point between the committee & membership. Sadly, it was reported at the recent committee meeting that some members are not doing their fair share and this does fit the spirit of any playgroup. Mandy Wilson Co-ordinator TREASURER'S REPORT Term 1 fees are well and truly overdue. Term 2 fees will be due by the last week of term, that is, by 26 March. You can pay in any of the following ways:

FUNDRAISING REPORT Taking advantage of the fact that it is nearly Easter, our first major fundraiser will be Cadbury's Easter Eggs ($4 a bag, about 50c cheaper than in the shops). It would be greatly appreciated if every family could sell one box - more if you can, through workplaces, offices etc. We have also discussed selling 'Fruity Faces'. These are small plastic containers shaped like fruits that you can put your fruit in to keep it longer lasting and undamaged in school/kinder bags. Further information is being sought as to costs etc. We have been fortunate to be allocated a date to work the sausage sizzle at Bunnings Hoppers Crossing. A sausage sizzle at this location can generate thousands of dollars towards our fundraising and take the pressure of selling other things through the year. Our date is the 11th of September which is a Saturday towards the end of term 3. Please mark this date in your diary as we will need volunteers to help sell on the day. People who have done it before say that it is quite fun. TERM DATES
SECRETARY'S REPORT If there are any changes to your group's members, such as change of address, new baby etc, please advise Charmaine via e-mail to secretary@seabrookplaygroup. SEABROOK PLAYGROUP WEBSITE For all the latest news about playgroup - including Term Dates, Session Info and Committee Contacts - visit our website: If you have anything you would like to see on the website, please contact treasurer@seabrookplaygroup. IN OTHER NEWS... NEW ARRIVALS Congratulations to Bernadette Freese (Friday Lunchtime Group) and family on the arrival of little Joshua James Scott born on 1 Feb. A brother to Charli.
TERM CLEANUP There has been a change to the roster - Term One Clean-Up will now be the responsibility of Tuesday AM + Wednesday AM groups. Remember, each and everyone of us is responsible for the maintenance of our toys because each and everyone of our children have the benefit of those toys. Group leaders from these two groups will have to organise a suitable date/time for clean-up. It is anticipated that with a full turn out, clean-up sessions will take about 1 - 1 ½ hours. COMMUNITY CENTRE Marg (the Community Centre Manager) has reminded us that we need to close the dividing doors if they are open when we arrive for playgroup. She has also requested that we try to keep the kids off the garden beds. Don't forget that we are all able to use the bbq located in the backyard if we wish for our sessions. Just ask Marg for the keys. Groups who have had bbq's all report that it makes an enjoyable change from the ordinary. |
